This week I am making a dress for my cousin Kris in Maine. She had a couple of dresses that she loved so much that she literally wore them out. Threadbare! I took them both apart and traced a pattern from the pieces, then cut out the new fabric. Kris trusted me to pick fabrics for her. Brave woman! One dress was completed earlier this month. The image on my page headers is the fabric I chose for it; white cotton with turquoise chain-stitch embroidery. It was a simple sheath dress; empire waist and about mid calf in length. Silly me forgot to take a picture of it before I mailed it to her.
This dress is similar in style, but with a square neckline, buttons at the back bodice and a kick pleat at the center back skirt. This fabric is linen. I love the eggplant color and the leafy batik pattern! I’m waiting on a couple of pictures to upload from my camera…..I’ll update later when it finally comes through.
